Smiley Library to Offer Local History Class
Larry Burgess and Tom Atchley are offering their Redlands Intensive class which focuses on the history of Redlands. The class will begin Tuesday, February 21, 2017 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. and will run for eight weeks ending on April 11. All classes will be held at the Smiley Library.
The local history class began in 1971. Since that time nearly 4,000 people have taken the course, many of them multiple times. “I thought it would be of interest to people in the community to learn about Redlands, its glories and its losses, and its philanthropists and its scoundrels,” said Larry Burgess. “Shortly after it began Tom Atchley agreed to come aboard and between the two of us we can take the course subjects in many directions,” Burgess added.
The eight-week series is sponsored by the Library Board of Trustees for a fee of $30.00 per person. All proceeds go to the acquisition fund for the Redlands Heritage Room.
The class is limited in size and reservations can be made either by e-mail at firstname.lastname@example.org or by calling the Library Director’s Office at 798-7565.
