SUMMARY:Adult Literacy Volunteer Tutor Training
DESCRIPTION:Adult Literacy Volunteer Tutor Training will take place Tuesday, April 28, 2026 from 6:00pm to 8:30 pm in the library’s assembly room\nAt Tutor Training, we will prepare you to meet with your learner, we will talk about adult learning styles, and we will share information about how teaching adults differs from teaching children.  Next, we will learn how to use the adult literacy materials provided by the program.  We will focus on how to use the core literacy workbooks and we will share information about using internet resources with your learner.\nTutor Orientation and Training Meetings are a great opportunity for you to ask your questions about adult literacy!  \nTo learn more about the Redlands Adult Literacy Program and watch a video that highlights learners who have participated in the adult literacy program, you may wish to visit the Redlands Adult Literacy website:   https://www.akspl.org/literacy/ ( https://www.akspl.org/literacy/ )\nFollowing the Orientation and Training sessions, each tutor fills out an application, completes a background check, and then makes a commitment to meet with an adult learner for 1.5 hours every week for a minimum of 6 months.  These tutoring sessions with your learner will take place on a day of the week and at a time that is convenient for you.  All materials are provided, and mentor tutors are available to provide support.\nPlease contact the literacy program at 909.798.7565, ext. 7377 or 7479 or email us at: literacy@akspl.org ( mailto:literacy@akspl.org ) if you have any questions.\nWe appreciate your interest in adult literacy.\n
