A.K. Smiley Public Library invites you to join us for our 22nd annual Family Day event on Saturday, September 27th, from 9am to 1pm in Smiley Park. We’ll be “Sharing Our Stories” with the award-winning author/illustrator duo Lesa Cline-Ransome and James Ransome, and we can’t wait to celebrate their wide collection of spectacular non-fiction and historical fiction books with you. The first 150 families to arrive and register will receive a hardcover copy of They Call Me Teach., written by Lesa Cline-Ransome and illustrated by James Ransome.
From a Musical Petting Zoo with Stars of Tomorrow to soccer with Redlands Football Club to book give-aways galore for students in kindergarten through 5th grade, the day promises to be one filled with exploration, community, and a shared love for reading. We’ll have a pop-up book making station, a bicycle safety station, a knot-tying station, a rope bridge to climb over, story read-alouds in the Young Readers’ Room, and so much more.
Most notably, at 11am, author and illustrator Lisa Cline-Ransome and James Ransome will host a workshop in Smiley Park, followed by a book-signing. Come join us for this special day of art, history, crafts, play, and books!
