Food Network Pioneer Chef Curtis Aikens at The Contemporary Club
Celebrated chef and cookbook author, Curtis Aikens, will speak to our community about the transformative power of literacy as he describes his quest to learn to read at age 26. Chef Aikens’s life was transformed when he learned to read at a library-sponsored adult literacy program. With his new skills, Chef Aikens went on to star as a chef on the Food Network, obtain his master’s degree in education, and author eight cookbooks. Chef Aikens is a passionate supporter of adult literacy who says “If you can read, you can succeed.” Come hear his talk about the vital importance of adult literacy and his fascinating experience in the culinary world.
