Smiley Library is excited to announce Library Day 2025, happening on Saturday May 10th from 11-2! This year’s theme, “Drawn to the Library,” is a playful celebration of both the artistic spirit and the many reasons people are inspired to visit this vibrant community space. Whether you’re passionate about painting, curious about comics, eager to connect with others, or simply seeking a welcoming place to learn and grow – there’s something at AKSPL that draws everyone in!
The festivities begin at 11 AM with a variety of creative and engaging activities for all ages. Children will be delighted by face painting, balloon animals, and a visit from a real RFD fire truck! Outdoor games like sack races and beanbag toss will keep the energy high, while inside, patrons can explore the latest additions to our video games collection, or browse the selection of circulating artwork which can be checked out just like a book!
From 11 to 2 PM, enjoy the lively sounds of Blue Hwy, back again to fill the air with music as families, friends, and neighbors celebrate Library Day.
At 11:30 AM, food will begin to be served by In n Out, Happy Camper Creamery, and Nicho’s Ice Cream – complimentary, while supplies last!
While the event will wind down around 2 PM, the fun doesn’t stop there as there are many things to do and see in the library itself. Check out our Eagle Cam station to see how the birds are doing, or check out some games, music CDs, DVDs, and more! Additionally, there will be a Smiley Live concert the afternoon of the 10th, starting at 3 PM: “The Autoharp Redefined by: Bryan Bowers” so be sure to stick around! We hope to see you there – and remember that whether for art, learning, or community, there’s always a reason to be Drawn to the Library.
